Allen West was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia in the same neighborhood where Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. once preached. He is the third of four generations of military servicemen in his family.

Mike Hornbuckle is a retired, 25 year veteran of Wall Street and the former president of JonesTrading, an institutional sales trading firm. Mike is the former president of Securities Traders Association of Los Angeles, member of Securities Traders Association and National Organization of Investment Professionals (NOIP). Mike graduated from La Salle High School in Pasadena California and the University of Redlands with a B.S. in Business Management. He has coached nationally ranked Adidas AAU high school level basketball teams and resides in Jackson, Wyoming with his wife Donna. They have three sons Michael, Matthew and Keegan, all former collegiate basketball players.
Edwin J. Feulner’s leadership as president of The Heritage Foundation transformed the think tank from a small policy shop into America’s powerhouse of conservative ideas — what the New York Times calls “the Parthenon of the conservative metropolis.” After 36 years at the helm of the 40-year-old think tank he helped create as a founding trustee, he stepped down April 4, 2013, assuming the new title of founder.
A former director of the Republican Study Committee in the House of Representatives, he also served as vice chairman of the National Commission on Economic Growth and Tax Reform and as a member of the Commission on Reforming International Financial Institutions. Other leadership roles included serving as president of both the Mont Pelerin Society and the Philadelphia Society, and as chairman of both the Intercollegiate Studies Institute and the Advisory Commission on Public Diplomacy.
Feulner’s work in the conservative movement throughout his life has earned him praise from a range of individuals from Heritage donors to U.S. Presidents. Edwin S. Taylor, known as “Eddie” to his friends, is currently a Board Member for Patriots Point Development Authority having been recommended to the SC Governor (who makes the appointment) by Lt. Governor Glenn McConnell originally, and now by Senate President Tempore Hugh Leatherman. Mr. Taylor serves as Chairman of the Operations and Facilities Committee and is a member of the Development Committee.
Edwin Taylor is a former Commissioner for Charleston County Parks and Recreation. During his tenure, the Commission raised and spent approximately $100 million building the current county parks while going from 30 employees to over 300. Projects included most all the county park facilities such as the James Island County Park, North Charleston Wannamaker County Park, the Mt. Pleasant and Isle of Palms Parks, the Charleston Maritime Center, as well as ‘Caw Caw’ and several others. The Commission also took on the boat landings, started the Christmas Festival of Lights show, built the water parks, led with the re-nourishing of Folly Beach, built the Folly Beach Edwin S. Taylor Fishing Pier, and acquired around 4,000 acres of land.
His last state appointment was as a founding member of the SC Renewable Energy Infrastructure Development Oversight Committee. This committee worked in conjunction with the South Carolina Department of Energy and the South Carolina Department of Agriculture.

Teddy then went on to spend 10 years developing and running Charleston Boatworks, a premiere yacht repair and yacht brokerage in South Carolina.
Teddy Turner currently teaches high school economics at the Charleston Collegiate School in Charleston, South Carolina. He also serves on the board of the South Carolina Aquarium, the Children’s Museum of the Low Country, the Jane Smith Turner Foundation, serves as Chairman of the Board of the South Carolina Maritime Foundation, and was a member of the Board of Trustees of St. Mary’s College of Maryland.
Turner earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina, in 1985. He resides in Charleston, South Carolina, with his wife Blair and his three children.
Patricia Humphrey is a devoted supporter of the public charter school movement and has offered much of her life to this cause. She is the Founder of the New Hampshire Center for Innovative School (NHCIS) and a Founder of the Academy for Science and Design (ASD) in Nashua. Patricia is an experienced school administrator, educator, and board director.
She has taught K-8 in New York City and in New Hampshire, and has directed a unique, independent school in New York City. Patty has extensive experience with public policy and fundraising.

Joe Gruters is a fourth generation Sarasotan (FL).
